Linux is still just spooky for most of us. In 2005 I downloaded a live CD of Beatrix. Linux for grandpa really...except the partitioning deal. I just don't get it and there are warnings about it everywhere. So i never could really tested it out properly. I would have loved that distro on my computer. It was perfect for doing this crap. Now I am using Ubuntu through Wubi which is nice cause I didn't have to partition. I don't know whether that actually makes me a "real" Linux user or not. Probably not but it's a nice step to it. I have my security blanket of windows still there. I have one computer... and never seen any OS install. Until the day I can see it, and not be scared of it this is the best I am willing to do. I keep looking for my Linux guy... not forums to help me out. I like to see what's happening, how to do it and how to fix it if it's not right. Better yet have someone else actually do the install for me. And that's the Linux problem. It's too much to learn and it feels risky. Even installing Wubi style was a big deal to me, not knowing if I had chosen wisely or not. I will say I am happy enough with it tho. It was painless. All I have added to it was flash which was differently simple. For the net surfing I do mainly it's overkill still but I am good to go.
