The true genius behind Linux is that it really is an open platform, the turnover rate for patches and hotfixes is considerably faster then any other operating system because ultimately the speed at which the users develop fixes is the speed at which patches are released. With other Operating Systems you have to wait weeks, if not months, waiting for Patch Tuesday to roll around before you get a workable solution to a problem that could possibly render you open to all sorts exploits.
